Director of New Technology at Strategic Research - null

Description : Director of New Technology at Strategic Research. Company : null. Location :

We are Alleima, here to advance industries through materials technology. Our development and manufacturing of advanced stainless steels and special alloys is world leading.

We have two passions. Material perfection. And people. This is why we are relentlessly devoted to giving our customers the absolute best in materials technology. And why we work together with clients to move industries, innovation and society forward.

From R&D to the final product, we enable our customers to find the best material and solutions for their processes. Our customers can depend on us to challenge them, to anticipate their next move, to work out what they need before they realize it themselves. That’s how they can rely on us to always move them forward.

Alleima is organized in three divisions – Tube, Kanthal and Strip, each with distinct products and end-market focus and all with a premium and leading offering.

At Strategic Research, which is a group function, we tailor new materials to customer needs and make sure Alleima is ahead of the curve to support existing and new customer needs. We have a strong research portfolio and excellent materials characterization capabilities to serve this purpose.

Your Role

We are searching for someone who can act as a bridge between the Strategic Research organization and the Business Development teams, mainly the central team, but also at the divisions. Your main target and objective is to facilitate growth for Alleima in new areas but also to be a link between Divisions for inorganic and organic growth by cross-functional technologies that are new to Alleima. The tasks may vary greatly over time, but some examples include:

  • Investigations and business cases for new technology investments, organic or inorganic.

  • Develop the Mergers & Acquisition pipeline from a technical perspective, typically for targets outside of the Divisions, and be the technology expert/coordinator in these M&A cases.

  • Finding external financing support for new technology investments (e.g. EU and/or Swedish government) and drive those applications forward.

  • Drive feasibility and pre-studies for new technology set-ups.

  • Setting an open innovation process around new technology and drive such initiatives.

  • Drive and coordinate strategy activities from a new technology and capabilities perspective, at R&D centrally at Alleima, and as a resource for the Divisions in specific cases.

As Director of New Technology, you have full responsibility to develop this area at Alleima – with the end goal of growing Alleima’s topline revenues outside of existing Divisions. To support you in driving this, you will have a small team of a couple of people reporting to you. You report to the Executive Vice President of Strategic Research, but you will also work very closely with the Business Development teams, and especially the central team under the Executive Vice President for Strategy, BD, M&A and IT.

About You

Your educational background is MSc or equivalent in the Science of Materials, Physics or Chemistry. You have a passion for materials and related production processes, as well as new technologies and tools. It is a strong merit if you have a solid combined experience in steel/alloys, business development and M&A. Since we operate on the global stage, your English skills must be excellent and it is an advantage if you are also proficient in the Swedish language.

We are sincerely interested in your personality – The position will include extensive internal and external collaboration and thus a strong stake-holder management skill is essential. Additionally, you are structured, self-going and result oriented. To be successful in this role, you need to be able to work on several things at the same time, without loosing focus on any of them. You also need to be able to present your findings to company executives in a confident way.

We are a company with an open-minded culture, actively working to create a workplace that is characterized by diversity and inclusion.
